New Swedish goal fest tonight?

On Friday, it became 4-0. Now, national team captain Peter Gerhardsson is hoping for an even bigger goal fest tonight in the return match against Luxembourg. We should at least try to score more than we did down there, he says.

Sweden's women's football team stands with one foot in a decisive playoff meeting for a European Championship spot.

But first, it's about the return match against Luxembourg tonight. Even if the numbers could have been a bit bigger, Sweden has a very comfortable starting position – it was 4–0 away on Friday.

Peter Gerhardsson hopes for even more in front of the home crowd at Gamla Ullevi. At lunchtime yesterday, barely 11,000 tickets had been sold for the match.

Hopefully, there will be a lot of people and a lot of young people who want to see goals, he says.

I hope we can give them that joy, it's the kind of thing you remember from when you were little.

The conditions ahead of the match, which starts at 7 pm:

If it becomes a win against Luxembourg, either Serbia or Bosnia-Herzegovina awaits in a decisive playoff for a European Championship spot next year. They played 2–2 in their first meeting and are also playing the return match tonight.

Injury situation: Unexpectedly good, according to Peter Gerhardsson, who had all players in full training yesterday. Magdalena Eriksson, who has been knee-injured, did not play on Friday but is, according to her own statement, ready for at least a substitute appearance. That Sweden has 4–0 to build on can also open up for some players who usually get a little less playing time.

Sweden, possible starting eleven (4–3–3): Zecira Musovic – Hanna Lundkvist, Nathalie Björn, Linda Sembrant, Amanda Nildén – Filippa Angeldahl, Kosovare Asllani, Hanna Bennison – Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Stina Blackstenius, Fridolina Rolfö.

Other squad members: Jennifer Falk (goalkeeper), Tove Enblom (goalkeeper), Jonna Andersson, Magdalena Eriksson, Emma Kullberg, Josefine Rybrink, Hanna Wijk, Anna Anvegård, Rebecka Blomqvist, Evelyn Ijeh, Sofia Jakobsson, Rosa Kafaji, Matilda Vinberg, Julia Zigiotti Olme.

National team coach: Peter Gerhardsson.

Luxembourg's squad:

Goalkeepers: Joy Jung, Lisi Oberweis, Lucie Schlimé.

Midfielders/forwards: Marta Estevez, Edina Kocan, Olivia Konsbrück, Catarina Lavinas, Laura Miller, Anna Miny, Charlotte Schmit, Barbara Serra, Caroline Jorge, Rachel Kirps, Joana Lourenco, Emma Thill, Amy Thompson.

National team coach: Daniel Santos.
