The Kaj fever has been a fact weeks before the final and "Bara bada bastu" topped Spotify's lists of the most played songs of the final bids. The impact on home ground has also been great and in Finland, Kaj tops Spotify for the first time.
The group convinced not only the viewers that they belong in Eurovision – also the international juries fell for the sauna gang and Kaj got the most jury points after Måns Zelmerlöw. But it was by a hair's breadth – in total, Kaj got 164 points, Zelmerlöw got 157 points.
The trio, however, did not feel safe until the result was a fact.
When we got the public's points and Måns was still there, we were sure we would come second, says Jakob Norrgård to TT.
What do you want to say to Måns Zelmerlöw now that you've taken home the win?
Well, a thousand thanks for supporting and cheering us on during these weeks, you're really a role model!
Second year in a row
It's the second year in a row that Sweden sends bids performed by artists from neighboring countries. Last year, Marcus & Martinus were called "traitors" in Norwegian newspapers, but in Finland, Kaj is hailed and has even broken through among Finnish-speaking people.
When they were announced as winners in Melodifestivalen, they were still shocked.
I don't understand anything. It's been an incredible journey, you just have to say. We had no idea when we entered the competition, a thousand thanks to everyone who voted, a thousand thanks, said Kevin Holmström directly after the result was presented.
Now the trio is gearing up for the Eurovision Song Contest.
We're sitting down at the drawing board and seeing what we come up with. Something in this style will have to do, just like we took Sweden. With the sauna, with genuine joy and how we've always done it, says Axel Åhman.
Måns won the jury
When the international jury had spoken, it was clear that Måns Zelmerlöw had gotten more votes than Kaj – albeit with a narrow margin. Måns Zelmerlöw got a total of 76 points from the jury, while Kaj got 74 points.
The betting companies, however, believed in a win for Måns Zelmerlöw – while the audience at the dress rehearsal on Friday wanted to see Kaj as the winner of Melodifestivalen.
27 percent of the dress rehearsal audience stated that Kaj was their favorite, 17 percent held on to Måns Zelmerlöw.
