This can be compared with the total number of people who have been vaccinated so far this year: 626,200. The "meeting-vaccines" therefore constitute only a fraction.
I would have thought there would be a few more. But for the parents who have regular meetings, I think it is an important change, says analyst Alma Wennemo Lanninger at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.
The expanded opportunity for temporary parental benefit, that is, being able to take time off, applies, among other things, to meetings at school due to the child's illness or disability and any adjustments that need to be made at school. Nearly 1,600 of the total of 2,500 parents have taken time off for this reason, according to the Social Insurance Agency's follow-up.
The option also applies when the parent needs to instruct school staff about the child's self-care related to, for example, diabetes or eczema. The option also applies during meetings with social services.
Most temporary parental allowance has been taken out for meetings concerning 11-year-olds. In a majority of cases (63 percent), the taking of temporary parental allowance concerned boys. This may be because boys are more often than girls diagnosed with ADHD and autism at a young age. It is also more common for boys to receive special support at school, compared with girls, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency writes in its report.
