Sandra Näslund continues to show golden form ahead of the Olympics in Italy. The Swedish ski cross star took her fifth World Cup victory of the season.

Näslund has completely dominated this World Cup season.

In the final in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, however, she had to fight a little harder. It was dramatic right up until the end.

"It was tough. I felt she (Maier) was close. She came at high speed. I made a small mistake, too, and thought I would lose," says Näslund in Viaplay's broadcast.

But in the end, no one could stop the 29-year-old this time either.

The Swede won 0.11 seconds ahead of Germany's Daniela Maier. Austria's Katrin Ofner came third.

Näslund has now won five of six World Cup competitions this winter. In the fifth she took third place. The victory was her 44th in the World Cup.

The recipe for success seems clear.

"I just try to have fun and enjoy skiing. Every time I compete, I want to win," she says.

In the Olympics, she will try to defend the gold she won in Beijing in 2022. The women's ski cross competition will be decided on February 20.

David Mobärg finished fourth in the men's competition in Veysonnaz.
