Reports of the number of fatalities varied after Tuesday's attacks. At least four people were killed in the city of Gaza, according to civil defense authorities controlled by the terrorist-stamped Hamas, while reports emerged of additional deaths on the Gaza Strip.
Two of the four killed in the drone attack were brothers.
Israel, in turn, confirmed a airstrikes against Gaza on Tuesday afternoon. The attack was directed against a "terrorist who used surveillance equipment and gathered information about the IDF (Israeli army) in the area," said the Israeli military in a statement.
Investigating the bombing
The Palestinian civil defense, which rescues people from bombed-out buildings, later reported four additional fatalities where a group of men in their 20s were hit in a bombing just south of the city of Gaza in the north. The Israeli military says it wants to investigate this.
Israel has killed dozens of Palestinians in recent weeks' ceasefire, citing that they had entered a forbidden area or approached Israeli military outposts.
In total, more than 48,500 people have been killed in the Palestinian area during the war, according to figures from the Hamas-controlled health authority in Gaza. According to some other estimates, the number is higher.
Borrowed time
The ceasefire is living on borrowed time, as the deadline for its first phase has actually passed. Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas are negotiating how to proceed: Israel wants to formally extend the first phase, while Hamas wants to take steps towards a second phase that involves greater commitments.
Fatalities were also reported from the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Three people, including a 58-year-old woman, were killed by Israeli gunfire in Jenin on Tuesday morning, according to the Palestinian health department there. The Israeli military said a shootout with a militia group had occurred.
