On Wednesday, eleven people have died in new rainfall in the tourist-dense northern region of Gilgit-Baltistan. A further ten have died in Pakistan's largest city Karachi due to electric shocks and collapsed houses as the floods have passed, according to the authorities.
Amir Hyder Laghari, chief meteorologist in the province of Sindh, blames "weak infrastructure" for the flooding in the major cities. In the million-city Karachi, schools continue to remain closed as more rain is expected until Saturday.
Since Thursday, over 350 people have died in the northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In total, across the entire country, 400 people have died in the past few days.
The authorities and the military are still searching for dozens of missing people in villages that have been affected by landslides and the heavy rain.
Since the monsoon rain started in June, nearly 750 people have died. The rain is expected to continue to fall until the middle of September.
