Three Crowns have decided who will be the team captain at home in Stockholm.
But they are not making it public.
It depends a bit on the timing and how our PR department wants to do it when it's released, but the players know, says national team captain Sam Hallam.
Press chief Linus Hugosson says they will announce it on Friday when Sweden plays its premiere against Slovakia.
Trying to dodge
Mika Zibanejad, back in training after missing Wednesday's due to illness, gets questions on the subject but tries to dodge.
Regardless of whether Zibanejad is captain or not, the 32-year-old is a front figure in the Swedish World Championship team chasing gold on home soil.
The Stockholm native is assistant captain in the big club New York Rangers and is now playing a home World Championship in his hometown.
In the end, he talks in terms that could be interpreted as a confirmation, when he talks about being a front figure in the World Championship team.
The captain talk, I don't know where it comes from. It's people outside who have created it, then you know more than I do. But it's clear, I've been around for a long time and played and done well. So of course, you get responsibility, it's a fun responsibility, which I hopefully have earned and can do well, he says after the Swedish training.
"An important thing"
Zibanejad and his New York Rangers had a tough season behind them after only being two wins from the Stanley Cup final last year.
Now it didn't even make the playoffs and Zibanejad had his goal-wise worst season in eight years, but after a boost the last few months, it became 20 goals and a total of 62 points.
He was part of Three Crowns' preparatory tournament in the Czech Republic and was brilliant with two goals and four points in two matches.
Always fun to score goals. I think people often forget that self-confidence is an important thing. I came in with self-confidence from the season finale and then coming to the Czech Republic and getting to score some points and produce in the role I have, it was nice, he says.
Before the premiere, he trained in a line with Nashville star Filip Forsberg and Wennberg, San Jose.
I played with Wennberg last week, but also a long time ago. There's good chemistry. With Filip, I've played a few times, an incredibly good player. Hopefully, it clicks directly tomorrow, he says.
