Micke Leijnegard is convicted of sexual harassment in Stockholm District Court. This is for having kissed a female colleague on the mouth during a party evening in connection with the television recording of "The Champions" in Spain. The SVT presenter announces that he intends to appeal.

The penalty will be a fine. Micke Leijnegard will also pay 10,000 kronor in damages to the woman.

The SVT profile is not satisfied with the outcome.

"See you in court! Or, in the language of honor and heroes: see you in the Court of Appeal," he writes in a text message to Aftonbladet .

His lawyer Johan Eriksson believes that the district court has made a wrong decision.

"In our firm opinion, what Leijnegard is convicted of is not criminalized," he writes in an email to TT.

A unanimous district court sentenced Leijnegard. The plaintiff's information is considered credible - including based on the text messages that the host sent to her the morning after the incident in which he asked for forgiveness for trying to kiss her twice.

The court also ruled that he told the woman that her "lips were so soft that he wanted to kiss her again."

“Incredible violation”

The colleague, who worked closely with Leijnegard in the production, has stated that she took it very badly and that she felt compelled to travel home from the shoot.

The trial, which was held a couple of weeks ago, dealt with, among other things, whether it was actually one or two kisses and whether Leijnegard's kissing was sexually intended or not.

According to Leijnegard, his kissing should be interpreted as a friendly and appreciative gesture, and as part of his and his colleague's jargon, which he described during the trial as "unusually drastic and saucy."

The woman had a different opinion.

"It was an incredible violation. I never asked for it, but he did it anyway," she said during the trial.

SVT: No comments

This summer it became clear that 61-year-old Leijnegard had to leave the viewership success that he had led since its inception in 2009.

According to previous statements from SVT, however, the idea has been that he will be allowed to continue working on other programs.

"We have of course followed the process and awaited the outcome, but do not see that any new information has emerged during the trial that would prompt further action on our part. Regarding future assignments, we will continue the discussion with the person concerned and currently have no comments on this," says program manager Christina Hill in an email to TT.

During the trial, the presenter himself stated that an internal investigation at SVT did not lead to any action except for "a reminder about alcohol consumption on a business trip."
