The information comes from Scott Sherman who is the commander of the force consisting of national guards and marines.
The deployment on Friday takes place the day after a court in the USA temporarily blocked a federal judge's call to President Donald Trump to return control of the national guard forces to the state of California.
President Trump has called in around 4,000 national guards and 700 marines to Los Angeles. On Tuesday, the national guard was given extended powers: in addition to guarding federal buildings, they will now also protect the personnel of the immigration authority ICE during raids against migrants who lack permission to stay in the USA.
The protests in Los Angeles are directed against ICE's escalated raids against residents in predominantly Latino-dominated areas.
