Sweden Achieves Third Consecutive Shutout with Victory Over France

Sweden kept a clean sheet for the third match in a row and defeated France in the World Championship. It was Tre Kronor's sixth win in the home championship. A stable match, we take the win and move on, says Lucas Raymond to Viaplay.

Goalkeeper Samuel Ersson, Philadelphia, held a shutout in his second straight game and saved 15 shots.

Jacob Markström, who sat on the bench, has two held shutouts.

The win was Sweden's sixth straight in the World Championship and the hunt for group victory continues.

The Swedes extended their lead to six points, but Canada has two fewer games played.

The two NHL-star-studded teams meet in the group finale on Tuesday, and probably it will be decided then which team wins the group.

It's now the most fun games begin, we have Canada as the final match, and then the playoffs. That's what you came here for. Now we're going, says Raymond.

Karlsson on Board

For that match, Vegas center William Karlsson is also on board. The official announcement that he reinforces the Swedish squad came during the France match. He becomes the 20th NHL player in the Swedish squad.

After the 4-0 win against Slovenia, Tre Kronor had a match against France about 17 hours later.

In the winning matches against Latvia (6-0) and against Slovenia, the Swedes had to wait until the second period before the opponent's defense cracked.

Now it went faster.

After 13.27, Detroit forward Lucas Raymond shot the leading puck past French goalkeeper Antoine Keller.

Then it only took 58 seconds for the 2-0 goal to come in front of a sold-out Globen.

Goal for the Debutant

World Championship debutant Emil Heineman, Montreal, precision-shot 2-0 in Keller's front cross.

The former Leksand forward, who has made it into the NHL, could thus celebrate his first World Championship goal in his career.

Tre Kronor has had problems with effectiveness in numerical superiority, only three goals on 14 attempts, but in the beginning of the second period came the payoff.

Friday evening's hat-trick shooter Elias Lindholm got half-hit on the finish that went in an arc over the French goalkeeper.

It was not exactly a great shot, but it managed to find its way in, so it was fun. It's always fun to score, especially here in Stockholm, at the home World Championship, Lindholm says.

Sweden had further chances in numerical superiority – including play in five against three for 41 seconds – but went bet.

The Swedes – who played their third match in four days – went down a bit on intensity.

There came a 4-0 goal in the third period when Filip Forsberg's pass hit Isac Lundeström's skate and went in goal.

So Forsberg gets to continue waiting for his first goal.
