"It's great to have Anna back. She has worked hard to get back from injury," says national team coach Tony Gustavsson.
At the same time, Rebecka Blomqvist has been omitted from the latest squad. Notable because Blomqvist was in one of the starting lineups during the World Cup qualifiers in April.
A tough conversation, says Gustavsson, who chooses to focus on other types of attacking players for the upcoming gathering.
Centre back Elma Junttila Nelhage, who is injured, has been selected despite the injury; there are hopes that she will be ready to play in at least one of the qualifying matches.
If we have time to get Elma ready for the first match or the second match, it's written in the stars, says Tony Gustavsson.
Nathalie Björn and Kosovare Asllani, both injured and not available for play, will be involved in different ways during the gathering where Sweden meets Denmark in Odense on June 5 and Italy in Gothenburg on June 9.
With victories against Denmark and Italy, Sweden will qualify for the 2027 World Cup. However, with a loss against Denmark, Sweden will have to settle for playoff games.
Should there be a draw against Denmark, Sweden must then win against Italy, while Denmark must drop points in its final match against Serbia, for Sweden to finish first in the group.
