Manchester United defender Anna Sandberg is back from injury ahead of the World Cup qualifiers with Denmark and Italy.
"It's great to have Anna back, she has worked hard to get back after injury," says national team captain Tony Gustavsson.
At the same time, Rebecka Blomqvist has been left out compared with the previous squad. Remarkably, Blomqvist started against Denmark during the World Cup qualifiers in April.
“Very difficult”
"It's very difficult to give Rebecka a message like that. Not least because Rebecka is such an incredibly fantastic person who contributes so much to this team," says Gustavsson, who chooses to focus on other types of attacking players for the upcoming camp.
Center back Elma Junttila Nelhage, who is injured, has been selected and there are hopes that she will be ready to play for at least one of the qualifying matches.
She has started seven of eight games under me and has done admirably despite limited playing time in Lyon, even before she was injured. We hope she can be available for match minutes already in the first game.
Injured duo to be involved
Nathalie Björn and Kosovare Asllani, both injured and not available for play, will be involved in different ways during the camp.
Björn will take part in the entire camp and Asllani will join at the end to act as the "mascot".
"I've been to London and talked to them. Partly because we want to give them some mental support in their rehab process, but conversely, they will also give us a lot of energy," says Gustavsson.
In a group like this, you know that the mental aspect is often what decides matches. Those who are most mentally prepared will likely win, and that's where "Natta" and "Kosse" become important in that preparation for this young group.
“Everything in your own hands”
It is unclear whether the duo will be on the bench or in the stands during matches.
Regardless of where they sit, their presence will be both seen and heard, I am convinced.
Sweden will meet Denmark in Odense on June 5 and Italy in Gothenburg on June 9.
We know we have to win against Denmark, but at the same time we have everything in our own hands now. It's up to us, and that makes it feel inspiring.
We're going to the World Cup; whether we do it now or in November might actually be less important, as long as we get there," says Gustavsson.
Goalkeepers: Tove Enblom, Vålerenga, Jennifer Falk, Häcken, Zecira Musovic, Malmö FF.
Backs: Bella Andersson, Real Madrid, Smilla Holmberg, Arsenal, Amanda Ilestedt, Frankfurt, Elma Junttila Nelhage, Lyon, Hanna Lundkvist, Manchester United, Amanda Nildén, Tottenham, Sofia Reidy, Hammarby, Anna Sandberg, Manchester United.

With victories against Denmark and Italy, Sweden will qualify for the 2027 World Cup. However, with a loss against Denmark, Sweden will have to settle for playoff games.
Should there be a draw against Denmark, Sweden must then win against Italy, while Denmark must drop points in its final match against Serbia, for Sweden to finish first in the group.
