The background to the terrorist classification is that, according to the US, he has smuggled oil from Iran and provided financial support to Islamist groups close to Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
He himself firmly denies this and claims that the US put him on the sanctions list without providing any evidence.
"Bring me a Bible and a Koran, and I'll swear on both that I've never done what they claim," the man says in an interview with both newspapers.
He came to Sweden as a refugee from Syria in 2015. Here he has invested in a grocery store, bought residential plots and started a construction company. In parallel, he has continued to work with his family's international shipping business.
According to the US, the smuggling of oil from Iran has generated hundreds of millions of kronor. Saudi Arabia and Israel have also put the man or ships linked to him on sanctions lists.
He has been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the UK's Supreme Court for lying to the court and contempt of court, a sentence that has not been served.
