Hammarby needs to defeat Djurgården on Monday evening if they are to maintain their grip on the top of the women's Swedish top division football. Because after Saturday's matches, Malmö FF, newcomers this year, are only one point behind – with eight rounds left to play for both teams.
MFF bounced back quickly after the loss in the group final against Hammarby two weeks ago. Table bottom Alingsås, who apparently will play in the second tier in 2026, had no chance.
We were really eager for revenge after Hammarby, says Malmö FF's team captain Nellie Lilja to Viaplay after the 4–0 win.
Early lead goal
Already in the sixth minute, MFF's top scorer Tuva Skoog gave the guests the lead. Miljana Ivanovic got around on the left side and played Skoog free, who rolled in 1–0.
Skoog has seven goals and eight assists this season. When it comes to goal production, Sara Kanutte Forsnes is even sharper, and in the 14th minute, the Norwegian struck again. Alingsås did not get the ball away and the Norwegian hit directly, and scored her eleventh goal of the season.
"Not satisfied"
Her twelfth came in the 71st minute when she punctuated the match by heading in 3–0. The minute after, Mia Persson made it 4–0 on a penalty.
Next up for MFF is a new away game, against Kristianstad next weekend.
We are not satisfied with anything one hundred percent. There are still things to develop. We want to make good performances too. So even if we win 4–0 today, there are bits we want to develop, says Nellie Lilja.
