It was during Friday that an entire row of eight townhouses was completely destroyed in a fire in Upplands Bro north of Stockholm. The fire also spread to another row where three more townhouses were destroyed.
There is no information about personal injuries, but about thirty people lost their homes, according to Ida Texell.
Right now, some are living with relatives and some are living in a hotel. Others have other accommodation options, a summer house or something like that. Otherwise, we could have helped them last night, says Texell to TT.
Crises help on site
The municipality is on site with a team to assist those affected.
It may be that you need help with both support conversations and with practical questions about, for example, insurance. It's everything from psychologists to skilled people who can support and fix, says Texell.
One of the affected is twelve-year-old Vilma, who woke up in the morning to what she thought was sunshine, but which turned out to be the fire. She woke up her mother and began frantically searching for her five-year-old cat Scooby, she told SvD yesterday.
I do not think she survived. That's all I've done, looked for the cat, she says to the newspaper.
Hundreds evacuated
On Friday, the municipality also had to take care of a large number of people who were evacuated from houses in the vicinity, while a school was temporarily closed.
We were up to a scope of 350 people. Then they need to eat and drink. It was 21 degrees yesterday and they needed to get a roof over their heads, a toilet, and be able to wash themselves and so on, says Ida Texell.
