What we want is to trigger a series of other recognitions, says the president during a visit on Monday to an Arab cultural center in Paris.
He also says that countries that do not recognize Israel should do so.
This comes days after Macron announced that France may recognize a Palestinian state in June at a UN conference.
Macron is also calling for a "reform" of the Palestinian Authority (PA) as part of the post-war plan, where the PA on the West Bank would also govern Gaza. The plan involves the terrorist-listed Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since 2007, no longer being part of the picture.
"It is important to set a framework for the day after: disarm and set Hamas aside, define credible governance and reform the Palestinian Authority", he writes on X after a phone call on Monday with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
"This would pave the way for a two-state solution."
During the call, Macron and Abbas emphasized the "urgent" need for a ceasefire in Gaza, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
