After a blow to the head during the match against Timrå in SHL hockey on Saturday, Luleå defender Oscar Engsund will now be released from the hospital on Monday.

During the away game against Timrå on Saturday, Luleå's Oscar Engsund had to leave the ice on a stretcher. The 32-year-old lost his grip after a duel with the home team's Jeremy Boyce and went into the rim head first.

Engsund was taken to hospital, where he remained over the weekend for observation. But on Monday the defender will be allowed to go home to Luleå, Mattias Waaranperä, the club's physical education manager, tells NSD .

Engsund has suffered a serious concussion, and it is unclear when he will be back in the game.

Now it's time for Oscar to rest his mind. He needs peace, quiet and to be at home with his family, says Waaranperä, who has been in contact with the player and says that he "feels okay considering the circumstances".
