Delgado Varas is now in Barcelona in Spain where preparations for the trip are underway.
The idea is to gather as many boats as possible to make their way via the Mediterranean into Gaza with humanitarian aid, and in that way open up for a humanitarian corridor, she says to the newspaper.
Behind the initiative to sail to Gaza is Global Sumud Flotilla. According to the organization, delegations from 44 countries will participate.
There have been previous attempts to sail to Gaza with emergency aid without succeeding. In June this year, Greta Thunberg and other activists tried to get there, but their ship was boarded by Israeli forces before they reached their destination.
On Sunday, Delgado Varas and party colleague Daniel Riazat left The Left Party after expulsion proceedings had been initiated against them. The two will remain in the parliament as independents.
