Linköping's long losing streak is over. After seven sorrows and as many losses in a row, there was a big victory in the six-point match against Leksand with 6–1. I think we are playing well, says two-goal scorer Robin Kovacs.

Kovacs was one of the organizers of the victory with two goals and an assist and feels that his own form is at its peak.

"I think I'm playing fantastic hockey. I've taken on a bigger role on the team and become more of a leader," he tells TV4 Play.

Linköping had not won in the SHL since October 11, but the international break has obviously been good for the team.

Coach Mikael "Musse" Håkanson has been under pressure, but can breathe a little longer.

Quick management goal

The home team got off to a dream start to the match when Robin Kovacs scored his tenth goal of the season on the power play after just over four minutes.

Fredrik Karlström increased the lead to 2–0 before the first period was over – his fifth goal, but the first since the last victory.

Jonathan Myrenberg increased the lead to 3–0 in the middle period before Andro Kaderli reduced the deficit for Leksand.

With a victory, Leksand could have pulled away from Linköping in the bottom half and gained a gap of seven points.

Played out and frustrated

But the Dalala team, which took two important victories before the international break, was played out in parts in the second period.

With a deficit of 1–4 and just over eight minutes left to play, frustration also set in. Both Matt Caito and Tinus Luc Koblar were sent off for protesting (abuse of officials) over a missed penalty.

Instead, Robin Kovacs was able to score his second power play goal of the evening to make it 5–1.

I don't think we were recognizable today, we weren't as bold and brave with the puck, very poor passing game. That surprises me, says Leksand coach Johan Hedberg.

Leksand is now in twelfth place, just one point ahead of HV71 and Linköping in the qualifying place.

HV71 won a thrilling Småland derby over Växjö 5–4.

HV lost 2–0 to 2–3, but then scored three straight goals. Lukas Rousek's 5–3 in an empty Växjö box was decisive.
