Lina Wolff, who will work on the screenplay, and the producers of the newly started company Alba Film share a fondness for Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino - whose filmmaking is described as a source of inspiration.

"Raw, poetic, bold, titillating, humorous and beautiful. Think 'Kill Bill' in the deepest Skåne," says producer Anette Brantin in a press release.

"The Corpse We Buried" revolves around the two orphaned sisters Jolly and Peggy, who grow up "among pedophiles and sadists in darkest Skåne," according to the August Prize jury's motivation.

The producers are currently at the Cannes Film Festival, where they are seeking financing for the film.

Corrected: In a previous version, there was incorrect information about who owns the production company.
