Liljevalchs writes in a press release that the bank's sponsorship of the art hall has caused "many questions".
"This takes focus from Liljevalchs mission, to make art available to a broad audience. In light of this, we have in dialogue with BNP Paribas jointly decided to terminate the cooperation", the art hall writes in a press release.
When the art hall's CEO Joanna Sandell Wright was confronted with the information about the verdict against BNP Paribas that came on Friday, she said she was not initially aware of the news. Now the cooperation is being terminated.
A federal American court in New York sentenced BNP Paribas on Friday to pay a total of 20.5 million dollars to three Sudanese citizens who testified about genocide committed during the reign of former leader Omar al-Bashir.
The court ruled that BNP Paribas helped the then Sudanese al-Bashir to commit genocide by ensuring that the regime could evade American bank sanctions.
