Leo Carlsson has scored 23 points (8 goals and 15 assists) in 14 games and is one point behind leaders Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado and Macklin Celebrini, San Jose.
After scoring two goals in the second period, and assisting Jacob Trouba on the winning goal in overtime, coach Joel Quenneville praised the 20-year-old Swede who was entering his second full NHL season.
"Leo has his own show right now, which shows that he has taken a big step. There are a lot of guys we are also very happy with. But Leo is leading the way," he said after the game, according to nhl.com.
Carlsson himself says:
We're playing our game and having fun out there. We're in a real jam.
The 20-year-old's points per game average is 1.64. Only William Nylander, Toronto, is better with his average of 1.75 among players who have played at least ten games this fall.
Vegas' William Karlsson left the ice after the first period with a lower-body injury. Coach Bruce Cassidy said after the game that the status of the injury will not be known until Monday.
