Aftonbladet's first part of the review, published on Tuesday, pointed to several shortcomings in the investigation - and the question is raised whether it was really the nanny who fired the fatal shots.
Against this background, I have decided to apply for a retrial together with her, says lawyer Johan Eriksson, who believes that the possibility of having the verdict reviewed is good.
“Cannot be convicted of murder”
He hopes that the legal system will learn in the future that even in cases where people confess, "you have to be extremely careful about checking their confession against the evidence that exists."
"You can't kill someone who is already dead. Therefore, she should not be convicted of murder. However, it was correct that she was convicted of attempted murder. She admitted to that and should be convicted of that," says Eriksson.
Eriksson tells SVT's Morgonstudion that the appeal will be submitted to the Supreme Court.
"We will submit an application for a raise in the near future. I don't dare promise more than that," he says.
Going through the material
The prosecutor who led the preliminary investigation into the murder also stated on Tuesday that she will review the investigation material again. She has not wanted to participate in the newspaper's review.
Neither has the police responsible wanted to answer Aftonbladet's questions.
The investigation has indicated, among other things, that more shots may have been fired at the pastor's wife than the nanny stated she fired - and thus there is an alternative perpetrator. Information about the angles of the shots is also not correct, and it has not been possible to determine that all the shots came from the same weapon.
The bed and bedding where the pastor's wife was murdered were also not properly examined.

On January 10, 2004, the wife of pastor Helge Fossmo was found murdered in the couple's home in the small community of Knutby outside Uppsala. In the neighboring house, a 30-year-old man was found shot. Fossmo was later sentenced to life imprisonment for incitement to murder and attempted murder, and a woman, called the nanny, who carried out the acts, received forensic psychiatric care.
The incident also drew attention to the Philadelphia congregation to which Fossmo belonged. Information gradually emerged about the group's special interpretation of the Bible, where the concept of the bride of Christ was interpreted as meaning a person – a woman in the Knutby congregation.
Helge Fossmo's sentence was later commuted and he has been on parole for a few years now. Barnflickan was released in 2011.
