"If I had run a little calmer at the beginning, it could have been faster overall, so there is a little more to gain. But I am very happy with the race overall," she says in a press release from the Swedish Athletics Federation.
With a time of 30.58 minutes, she was 24 seconds faster than Meraf Bahta's record from 2022.
Lahti, 30, was already faster than Bahta three years ago, but the time was not approved because she did not have time to submit a doping test on time.
"In Ibiza three years ago, there was no preparation for doping tests, it became very stressful and unfortunately never resolved. Now I had to take the record today instead," she says.
