It is absolutely clear that there are loopholes being used today, says the Prime Minister during the parliamentary question hour.
In response to a question about what the government intends to do to stop the unfair competition from Chinese online companies such as Temu and Shein, he answers:
I do not rule out Swedish legislation, but since this is a problem that affects us all in Europe, it would be good to have a joint European action to tackle the companies that are clearly abusing free competition in this way, says Kristersson.
He calls the companies' actions "systematic abuse of rules" and says that he will meet with the trade organization Svensk Handel to discuss the issue.
In a survey ahead of Christmas shopping, one in five stated that they planned to buy Christmas gifts through the Chinese low-price websites Temu and Shein, according to Svensk Handel.
