Further details about the meeting are expected to be announced tomorrow.
”The agenda from our side is clear: return of prisoners of war, return of children who have been taken away by Russia and preparation of a meeting between the leaders”, wrote Zelenskyj on X just hours before Wednesday's meeting was announced.
The talks will take place in Turkey, just like previous meetings. On Saturday, Zelenskyj announced that Ukraine had proposed that new talks would take place this week.
Russia has not confirmed the dates for the new talks, but Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitrij Peskov announced earlier on Monday that Russia has responded to the proposal. But that the countries have "diametrically opposite" views and an agreement on a ceasefire is very far away, says Kremlin's spokesperson Dimitrij Peskov to selected reporters.
Much diplomatic work lies ahead of us, he says.
In talks in Istanbul last month, Russia presented a list of tough demands, including that Ukraine should give up more territory and reject all forms of Western military support. Ukraine dismissed the demands as unacceptable.
