The Ayatollah's backup plan involves him, along with 20 family members and aides, leaving Iran for Russia, according to the British intelligence report seen by The Times.
Among them is the Ayatollah's son, Mojtaba Khamenei, who, according to speculation, could become his successor.
The escape plan is said to have been based on Syria's deposed dictator Bashar al-Assad leaving Damascus for Moscow in December 2024.
"They have planned an escape route from Tehran if they feel the need to flee," an informed source told The Times.
The report says the plan includes "collecting assets and property abroad and cash to facilitate safe passage."
Khamenei is Iran's supreme leader and has power over the military, courts and media.
