KD leader Ebba Busch claims that today it can take as long to obtain a permit for a new mine as it took to build the entire Inlandsbanan railway.
"Sweden needs to become a country that can make quick and strategic decisions again," she says.
According to KD, the government should be allowed to take over decision-making in issues that are important for all of Sweden, but where several interests are at odds with each other. Minister for Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren (KD) believes that the government has a more holistic approach than an authority "with its sectoral thinking."
Busch cites the lengthy permit process for Cementa's continued lime mining on Gotland as an example.
KD also wants to move expertise from authorities to the Government Offices.
