The man, who is being treated for a life-threatening and contagious disease, is in Sweden illegally and is to be deported. After Karolinska University Hospital refused to release information about him, police appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court, which ruled in the police's favour, the newspaper writes.
According to the court, a telephone number is generally not privacy-sensitive or protected information. There is also no reason to question that police need telephone numbers in their crime-fighting activities.
The Supreme Administrative Court's ruling was issued on June 25. The ruling cannot be appealed and will set a precedent.
