Strömmer lit a candle at the memorial site on Medborgarplatsen in the city and met with representatives from the municipality, the police, the church and the women's shelter, reports NSD.
The suspected perpetrator is said to have had recurrent contact with psychiatric services. Just days before the murder, the man was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital but was released after a day, according to the man's mother, who spoke to NSD.
"I see how informed people point out that there are legitimate questions about whether psychiatry has sufficient legal authority to forcibly treat dangerous people. In my part of the system, the judiciary, it is already a topic of intense discussion," Gunnar Strömmer tells the newspaper.
It was on Christmas morning that a man in his 20s rang the doorbell of a villa and was let in. There, a 55-year-old woman and her two teenage daughters were attacked. The woman died of her injuries. The man was shot dead when police intervened a few hours later.
