After the finish in the fifth heat, it was not entirely clear whether the 24-year-old, who finished fifth and did not take a direct spot to the semi, had made it through.
Further examination of all the heats was required. Then it became clear that Henriksson, who has a personal best of 7.22, was four hundredths of a second faster than Maja Mihalinec Zidar, Slovenia, and made it through with the last time of 7.27.
Decisive Fall
A fall over the finish line became decisive in the Swede's favor.
I heard Kajsa (Bergqvist, national team captain) in the stands saying it was calm, says Henriksson.
The semifinals will be decided at 4 pm today. Several of Henriksson's competitors were fast in the heats. Zaynab Dosso, Italy, was the fastest with 7.06.
"Will be Tough"
There are fast times today. Really cool and very inspiring. The tracks are very good here, says Henriksson and continues:
There are incredibly fast girls, so it will be tough. But I know that everyone who stands on the starting line has an equal chance of making it through.
Henriksson has mainly impressed on the 200 meters this indoor season, a distance that is not on the European Championship program, and among other things set a Swedish record.
On Saturday evening, Henrik Larsson took European Championship silver on the 60 meters, Sweden's first during the championship in the Netherlands, which concludes on Sunday evening.
Earlier in the morning, Wictor Petersson qualified for the final in the men's shot put after a third place in the qualifying round with a longest throw of 20.65 meters. Jesper Arbinge was eliminated. The final begins at 4.28 pm.
