Larsson gave FCK a dream start in the Champions League meeting with Bayer Leverkusen.
Already in the ninth minute, the Swede stepped forward and set 1–0. Larsson took advantage of a pass, met the ball on a half-volley and placed it in the net from close range.
With ten minutes left of the match, it really exploded. First, Leverkusen equalized through Alejandro Grimaldo. The joy was, however, short-lived as FCK took back the lead five minutes later through the Brazilian Robert.
Leverkusen, however, got the final say through an unfortunate own goal to 2–2.
The 1–0 goal was Larsson's first ever in the Champions League. During last year's group play, he had five appearances without being noted in the goal protocol.
The 28-year-old was in the squad for the World Championship qualifying matches against Slovenia and Kosovo earlier in September, but then had to settle for sitting on the bench under Jon Dahl Tomasson's leadership.
