Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, Visits Sweden Amid AI Boom

Bullied in school and dishwasher at a fast-food chain. Today, a multibillionaire and creator of the world's currently most significant company. Jensen Huang's career is as impressive as the development of his company – the semiconductor giant Nvidia. Now, he's also hooking up with President Donald Trump.

Last week, he was with President Donald Trump in the Middle East to sign a giant contract regarding 18,000 of the company's most advanced chips to Saudi Arabia.

This weekend, it's Norrköping that applies, and a guest lecture in connection with him being appointed honorary doctor at Linköping University. The subject is AI, and if there's something that has contributed to Jensen Huang's success, it's the AI revolution.

He's a visionary and has done things differently, in his own way. Like other tech leaders, he's very tough. It's not a walk on roses to work for him, but rather a lifestyle, says Kristofer Barrett.

As a fund manager at the asset manager Carmignac, he has followed Huang and Nvidia and had the opportunity to meet him briefly on a few occasions. "Nice, accommodating, and easy to talk to" is his assessment.

Moved to the USA

Originally from Taiwan, Jensen Huang and his brother were sent to a relative in the USA.

Huang was supposed to live at what was thought to be a prestigious boarding school in Kentucky, but it turned out to be a religious school for troubled youth.

Every student smoked, and I think I was the only one at the school who didn't carry a knife, Huang has told in an interview with The New Yorker.

Huang was too young to attend the school and instead got a place at a municipal equivalent. Huang has told how he was subjected to repeated bullying by the other students and was called "chink", a racist slur used against Asians.

There was no one to talk to. You could just bite your lip and move on, Huang has said.

As something of a prodigy, he got to skip two classes and graduated at the age of 16. Together with two other people, he founded Nvidia at one of the fast-food chain Denny's restaurants, the same chain where Huang previously worked as a dishwasher.

The Share Has Soared

Originally, Nvidia focused on graphics cards for computer games, but the company has expanded and is seen as a giant winner in the AI revolution, where the company's chips are present in almost all major tech giants.

the past five years, Nvidia's share has soared over 1,400% and the company is the second highest valued in the world. Huang is now one of the 15 richest people in the world with a fortune of around 118 billion dollars. That Jensen Huang is now attending Trump's Middle East trip cannot be compared to, for example, Elon Musk's connection to Trump, emphasizes Barrett:

business leaders have approached Trump because they are so desperate, and this is not a political stance.

Jensen Huang is the co-founder and CEO of Nvidia since 1993. The company name comes from the Latin word for envy, invidia, something they hoped the company would spread in the industry.

The start of the company was tough, and for a while, they were extremely close to bankruptcy.

Initially, the business focused on graphics chips, but during the 2000s, it has expanded. A breakthrough came through the establishment of the company Open AI with CEO Sam Altman, and the entire AI revolution has contributed to Nvidia's world-leading position.

For investors, the Nvidia share has been incredibly successful, and it's now not far from the top level recorded last autumn.

Jensen Huang was last week ranked 13th on the list of the world's richest people with a fortune of 118 billion dollars.
