Jenny Rissveds is unstoppable right now. The mountain biker achieved her second victory in three days in the World Cup in Lake Placid – her eighth victory since July. But the most important thing is to be healthy, says Rissveds in the victory interview.

The 31-year-old Swede won the Olympic Games distance in a crushing style with a whole 2.16 minutes ahead of the Brit Evie Richards and 2.31 ahead of the World Cup leader Samara Maxwell, New Zealand.

But it was something completely different from the great victory that Rissveds had in mind in the victory interview.

The most important thing of all is to be healthy, I have realized that it is very important, like enjoying the journey, says the Swede, who after the Olympic gold in 2016 was affected by depression and eating disorders.

Largest in 14 years

Rissveds won with the largest margin of victory in 14 years, after the Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand-Prevot.

She is a great inspiration for me, says Rissveds and comes to Ferrand-Prevot's defense after a weight debate that flared up since the Frenchwoman lost four kilos to be able to win the Tour de France this year.

She does not deserve the crap she got. One should respect her.

Rissveds took off on her own pretty soon on the first lap, and extended the lead thereafter. At the beginning of the seventh and final lap, the lead was 2.48.

On Friday, Jenny Rissveds won the short distance, but only with two seconds ahead of Richards and five ahead of the Swiss Alessandra Keller.

The Olympic gold medalist from 2016, who took bronze in Paris last year, is making her best competition season this year, where she has been almost unstoppable since the end of July - eight wins and two second places have been the result.

Gold on gold

It started with two European Championship golds in Portugal and then she took two World Cup victories before the World Championship in Switzerland in September. There she won silver and gold, her very first gold in the World Championship. A few days later, she won again in Switzerland, now in the World Cup, and also took a second place in the competitions in Lenzerheide.

On Friday, it was time again to step up to the top of the podium, which she got to do again on Sunday in the competitions in the USA.

The World Cup season ends in Mont-Sainte-Anne in Canada next week.
