The document is signed by the US Acting Attorney General Emil Bove and comes barely two weeks after President Donald Trump pardoned nearly 1,600 people who participated in the deadly storming. They stormed Congress to prevent the results of Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election in November from being confirmed.
Trump has described the convicted as "patriots taken hostage".
On Friday, American media also reported that FBI employees working on the charges against the newly elected president are expected to be fired, according to sources.
Insiders tell the Washington Post that they are currently working on identifying "hundreds of potential (FBI agents) for possible dismissal". NBC News reports that more than 20 of the identified individuals are high-ranking officials leading the federal police's operational work in several parts of the country, including Washington and Miami.
