The remains were examined during the night, but according to Israeli authorities, none of them belong to the eleven dead Hamas hostages still in Gaza, Israeli media reports.
It is unclear who the remains belong to or why they were handed over to Israel.
Already on Friday, when the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) assisted in the handover, sources within the Israeli military stated that they did not believe the remains belonged to the hostages.
The announcement could further undermine the ceasefire in the war. Since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10, Hamas has released the remains of 17 dead hostages held in Gaza for the past two years.
On Friday, Israel released the remains of 30 Palestinians to Gaza, after Hamas, labeled a terrorist group, handed over two dead Israeli hostages earlier this week.
