The four dead Israelis were supposed to be handed over later in the week, according to the ceasefire agreement, reports Israeli Ynet.
Israel is also demanding that the Palestinian extremist movement skip the "ceremony" that has been held at previous handovers. Last week, four coffins containing the remains of hostages, Shiri Bibas and her two children, as well as 83-year-old Oded Lifshitz, were placed on a stage in southern Gaza together with armed Hamas men before the handover.
One of the coffins was also found to contain a different body than agreed upon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then called Hamas "monsters" – and later announced that the planned release of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel would be postponed.
The UN's human rights chief also criticized the way in which the terrorist-stamped Hamas handed over the remains last week. "Repugnant", commented Volker Türk.
