Utmaned and disappointed after a new setback in the World Championship qualification. Alexander Isak has had more fun as a national team player. But he understands the supporters' reaction after the heavy 0–2 loss against Switzerland.

It is a frustration that the fans feel and we share it. We have the same ambition as everyone else. I think the support was good during the match.

After the match, I can understand that people want to express their frustration, he says.

He also stands behind the increasingly questioned national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson, who had to endure booing and banners demanding his resignation.

”Not a fine sight”

It is of course not a fine sight. We need to be positive as a team. It is about us all being united. It is clear that we are not in a good position, but there are still opportunities.

Your confidence in Jon Dahl Tomasson?

We all have confidence in him. We will fight together. The best chance we have is if we stand united, says Alexander Isak.

What disturbed the striker and captain a lot was the reaction after Granit Xhaka gave Switzerland the lead on a penalty.

It is not a completely bad match. We create chances. It is clear that the match picture could have been different if we had scored a goal or two, but after their goal, we fall apart. It is not okay how we react, he says.

”Need to win”

Already on Monday, Kosovo awaits at Ullevi in Gothenburg. The goal picture has changed – now it's about securing second place, which guarantees a playoff in March.

There is much to improve, but we will do what we can to turn this situation around. We will shake this off.

We need to win, that's all it's about. Less talk about the World Championship. The next step is to win to get back the confidence as a team and for everyone to be able to see a light, says Alexander Isak.
