Israel should be banned from all competitions organised by European football's governing body UEFA, according to the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), which has voted in favour of submitting a motion to UEFA on the issue.

The motion, submitted by Irish club Bohemians, needed support from at least half of the federation's delegates and received a clear majority, the FAI wrote in a statement.

The federation claims that the Israel Football Association is violating two of UEFA's statutes. One concerns "organizing clubs in the occupied Palestinian territories without the approval of the Palestinian Football Association," and the other that the association "has not implemented an effective anti-racism policy."

At the end of September, the Turkish Football Federation also said that Israel should be excluded from all international football.

Israel's men's national team will conclude its World Cup qualifiers with a match against Moldova on November 16. The team is third in the group and can neither take a direct place nor reach the playoffs for next year's tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
