According to the Iranian federation, their request for the team to be given two days in Los Angeles was denied by the White House's FIFA group.

"I believe this will mark a dark point in the modern history of the World Cup," said Hedayat Mombeini, secretary general of the Iranian Football Federation.

The Iranian federation is to file an official complaint with the International Football Association Board (FIFA) regarding the travel restrictions.

The war between Iran and the United States has had consequences for the Iranian team since the start of the tournament. According to Iranian authorities, the team was forced to move its base camp from Arizona to Tijuana because the national team is not allowed to stay in the United States for more than 24 hours at a time. Despite the two countries agreeing on a memorandum of understanding to end the war, the travel restrictions have not been lifted.

"This type of breaking of rules and our agreements calls into question football itself, in my opinion," said Mombeini.

This is not the first time during the tournament that Iran's travel has caused anger. After a 2-2 draw with New Zealand, the team was forced to leave the United States that evening, which angered the players.

"It's not good for us. At a World Cup you have to prepare. There's a lot of stress like this for the players and the managers. We have no support. I think FIFA should help us more with this," said Iranian player Mehdi Taremi after the match.
