Elliot Stroud has made a splash in the Swedish league, which led to a place in national team coach Graham Potter's World Cup squad for this summer's championship.
However, during Sunday's loss to Häcken, Stroud had to leave the field in obvious pain.
"I've been playing a lot lately and felt a little tired in my groin after a few minutes there," Stroud said to TV4 after the match.
Now Mjällby is reporting on the situation.
"He felt a little stiff and will have an MRI this afternoon," sports director Hasse Larsson told Fotbollskanalen.
The Swedish national team will gather on May 27 for the championship. The World Cup opener will be played against Tunisia on June 15 at 4:00 a.m. local time in Sweden.
