The IMF's contacts with Venezuela were paused in 2019, but the organization says discussions with the country's government have now resumed.
The recognition of Delcy Rodríguez's government in Venezuela paves the way for the IMF to collect economic data on the country and potentially offer financial support to the government, should it request it.
