Media reports in recent days have clearly shown that the relationship between Fannberg and the club's management has reached a dead end.
On Friday, IFK Norrköping finally came out with the confirmation that Fannberg is leaving the club.
IFK Norrköping does not comment on the reasons, but according to TV4 Football Channel, chairman Martin Gyllix has stepped in and taken over parts of Fannberg's tasks and reduced the sports manager's mandate.
"Want to thank Magni"
On its website, the club writes:
"Magni took over the role of sports manager at a critical stage and during a turbulent time in the association. Since then, he has worked with the squad, staff, development of the player collective and with cost-saving measures in a positive way. The association's change work continues entirely in line with the outlined strategy and with great progress, where the sports manager role will be reviewed during the autumn with appointment thereafter. We want to thank Magni for his efforts in the club and wish him good luck with future assignments".
Fannberg got the job as sports manager after the previous season.
In a statement, he says:
"I am deeply proud of what we have achieved together given the conditions we have had. My work has been characterized by action, commitment and a strong drive for the club's and individuals' best. I am convinced that the club and individuals are more stable for future challenges".
Priceless trust
Fannberg was instrumental in attracting coach Martin Falk to the club.
He has supported me and given me a trust that has been invaluable, says Falk to Norrköpings Tidningar.
My and Magni's cooperation has been very, very good. We have not always agreed on things, but that is also what has driven things forward, continues Falk.
