"We usually do it once a year. It's, of course, a good idea to do it before the World Cup," says national team doctor Jonas Werner.
Even though the exercise is directed, it is made as realistic as possible and evaluated.
"It's about cardiac arrest, various traumas on the field, such as stabilizing serious injuries, turning players over, and so on," says Werner, the team's doctor and head of medical staff.
It happens from time to time that players get injured during training, but serious injuries are uncommon.
Before the World Cup opener against Trinidad in 2006, Andreas Isaksson was hit hard in the head and suffered a concussion. Before the 2018 World Cup, John Guidetti was tackled so badly that he missed an international match against Denmark, but was still able to go to the World Cup.
