"This change will apply to both venues – Stockholm and Herning", writes IIHF, according to the newspaper.

This creates more time for ice maintenance between periods. The change applies from Thursday's matches onwards.

The group stage match between Norway and Germany in Herning on Tuesday was interrupted for about 20 minutes after a hole appeared in the ice. Then, Norwegian forward Markus Vikingstad went through the ice with one of his skates.

In Stockholm, several national teams have complained about the ice, which is perceived as soft due to the heat in Globen (Avicii arena), according to Aftonbladet.
