The nuclear power plant, which has been occupied by Russian forces since March 2022, became powerless at the end of September. It is the longest time the nuclear power plant has been without external power supply since Russia's large-scale invasion war began.
"I continue to consult with Russia and Ukraine so that this work can begin in the coming days," says Grossi in a statement.
The nuclear power plant, which is Europe's largest, has since then received power from diesel generators, and repairs to power lines are needed "on both sides of the front line, several kilometers from the site," according to Grossi.
IAEA's group on site continues to report military activity at varying distances from the nuclear power plant, says the director general.
Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of risking a disaster at the nuclear power plant due to attacks on the site, and have accused each other of the latest power outage.
