UN's atomic energy agency IAEA adopted a resolution on Thursday where Iran is urged to "swiftly address its non-compliance" with the non-proliferation treaty.
Iran is legally bound to, among other things, declare all activities related to nuclear energy and allow IAEA to inspect the program to ensure that Iran is not producing nuclear weapons.
New talks
The resolution was adopted at the same time as Iran and the US are preparing new talks this weekend about the Iranian nuclear energy program. However, both the US and Iran are clear that the current talks have stalled, with threatening rhetoric from both Washington and Tehran.
On Thursday, Germany also toughened its tone against Iran and demanded that the country clearly renounce its desire to acquire nuclear weapons. Similar signals came from French President Emmanuel Macron.
Thereafter followed a new threat from US President Donald Trump, who claimed that an Israeli attack on Iran "can very well happen" and that it can lead to a "massive conflict".
I do not want to say that it would happen immediately, but it looks like something can actually happen.
Further threats
To reporters in Washington, Trump said at the same time that an escalation of the conflict can be avoided if Tehran agrees to some of the demands that the US has made in the talks.
Iran in turn threatens to attack American interests and military bases in the region if the country is attacked. Additionally, Tehran claims that it plans to build a new enrichment facility and that the pace of uranium enrichment will increase.
