I'm disappointed with how we performed the match. We become slow in everything we're doing. We have opportunities in the first period but don't take advantage of them. We don't believe in it enough and that's killing me, says Modo's coach Mattias Karlin to TV4.
HV71 had a strong start in the first period and went to the break with 3–0.
The second period was quieter in terms of goals. André Petersson scored 4–0 with three minutes left to play, and thus made his second goal for the evening.
Nice to score some points, but nicer with the win of course, says Petersson.
The only power-play goal came in the third period when Tanner Keto scored the final 5–0.
It feels great to win, but we know it's a match series and one match doesn't mean we win. We have to keep building on this, says HV71's Jonathan Ang to TV4.
The match had, in addition to goals, many tough duels, and the atmosphere became increasingly intense as the match progressed. The referees handed out a total of 44 penalty minutes, with Modo's reserve goalie Olle Eriksson Ek receiving four of them, following a situation by the bench.
HV's goalie Frederik Dichow kept a clean sheet in the match.
We're playing much better, which makes my job easier. I'm pleased with my performance and the team's performance. We're playing a very stable match, this is how we should play all matches, says Dichow.
The score is now 2–1 in matches, in favor of Modo.
Match four of seven will be played on Sunday at Husqvarna Garden.
