Adrian Kempe definitively decided the match with a goal in an empty net with only 49 seconds left of the final period. Earlier, he had extended Los Angeles' lead to 3–0 with a wrist shot at the beginning of the third period.
Kempe also scored two goals in the latest match, away against Colorado on November 13, and has been credited with nine goals in 19 matches so far this season.
Brännström scores
Defender Erik Brännström played a crucial role for his Vancouver in the match against Chicago. The former HV71 player scored his second goal of the season. His 2–1 goal in the beginning of the third period was extended at the end of the match with two quick goals to 4–1 when Chicago pushed for a tie.
Tampa goalkeeper Andrej Vasilevskij nailed it again and saved 29 shots when the team met New Jersey at home. In the opposing goal, Gävle-born Jacob Markström made 22 saves, but let in four pucks.
Power play problems
Victor Hedman scored one of Tampa's goals, when he set 3–0 in a numerical superiority just eight minutes into the third period.
We've been struggling with our power play and trying to find what works. We've tried everything, but we have so many great players, so it's about finding the right way to play and we did that today, says Hedman to nhl.com.
Later, Hedman contributed further with an assist, when Anthony Cirelli scored 4–0 with only twelve seconds left of the match.
During the night to Saturday, Swedish time, Rasmus Dahlin also extended his scoring streak when his Buffalo met Philadelphia. Dahlin scored a goal and an assist and has now picked up points in six matches in a row. However, it wasn't enough for Buffalo, which lost 5–2.
