The week aims to gather more information about the endangered species and where it is found. The number of hedgehogs has decreased by almost half in twelve years, according to the World Wildlife Fund, WWF.

Something that has stood out this year is that more people than in previous years have reported hedgehogs that have been found run over by cars, it is a significant number to take forward, says Jessica Ångström.

Approximately the same number of people as in previous years have participated this year. The counties with the most reports of hedgehogs are Gotland, Skåne and Östergötland.

Hedgehog Week took place in week 33, this year 10-16 August, for the third year in a row. The project is run by WWF and Nordens Ark and will last for at least five years. Funding comes from the Swedish Postcode Lottery.

The public is asked to report where, when and how many hedgehogs they have seen - or alternatively that they have not seen or have never seen any at the location.
