In the Israeli statement, it was said that the military had made efforts near the Kamal Adwan hospital, but that they had neither bombed nor stormed the hospital.
The hospital's chief, Hussam Abu Safia, stated that four employees had been killed in the attacks.
A series of airstrikes were carried out against the northern and western sides of the hospital, along with intense and direct gunfire, said Abu Safia.
A spokesperson for the civil defense in Hamas-controlled Gaza claimed that around 30 people had been killed in Israeli attacks in and around the hospital.
According to Rik Peeperkorn, the World Health Organization's representative in the Palestinian territories, the attacks were not preceded by any warning. Peeperkorn's comment was made to reporters in Geneva.
Israel said simultaneously that efforts "continue against terrorists in northern Gaza and their infrastructure" and said that military efforts are taking place near the hospital.
In late November, Ahmed al-Kahlout, head of Kamal Adwan's intensive care unit, was killed in an Israeli drone attack when he was leaving the area.
